    Alleged illegal found during stop

    TAMAQUA — Borough police on Thursday apprehended an illegal immigrant from Mexico, wanted on a federal warrant since 1997, during a traffic stop, police said.

    Isidro Olayo, New Ringgold, was turned over to officials from the Immigration and Naturalization Service, Allentown, police said.

    The incident occurred about 8 p.m. June 17 along Route 309. When Olayo was asked to show his driver’s license, he handed the officer a Mexican international license, which was not a legal driver’s license in Pennsylvania, police said.

    Olayo then told police he did not have a Pennsylvania driver’s license and was an illegal alien in this country for 14 years, police said.
