    Alleged Serial Rapist Back In Mecklenburg County Jail

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An illegal immigrant investigators say they have connected to numerous rapes in Charlotte is back in the Mecklenburg County jail.

    Jose Rivera, 26, was returned to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police on Tuesday morning. He was in federal custody in Atlanta because he was set to be deported after being charged with breaking and entering when investigators used DNA evidence to link him to three rapes in east Charlotte and Dilworth. Those attacks happened in 2004 and 2005.

    Rivera faces 16 charges in the three attacks, 14 of which are felonies.

    Rivera, who's from Honduras, has been in the Mecklenburg County jail several times before, according to records. He was even deported in November 2006, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman said.

    We pretty much have the same bull crap going on here in Charlotte as does New Jersey. We have an idiot police chief that instructs his officers not to inquire into anyone's immigration status.
