SILER CITY, N.C. -- Police were looking for a man Sunday who allegedly kidnapped his 2-year-old son at gunpoint from his estranged girlfriend early that morning.

Jorge Sanchez Aguilera, 29, and three other men broke into the woman's house around 2 a.m., Chatham County sheriff's deputies said. Authorities said the men used duct tape to restrain the child's mother, grandfather and another relative.

Sanchez Aguilera allegedly threatened to kill them unless they gave him his son, Edwin Sanchez Gonzales.

Authorities said Sanchez Aguilera had posed a $2,500 bail for violating a domestic violence protective order in August.

He is considered armed and dangerous, and authorities said he could be on his way to South Carolina, where he has family.

The suspect’s burgundy Ford Expedition was stopped Sunday afternoon in Belmont in Gaston County. Police found two women and several children inside. They were taken to Chatham County, where they were questioned and released.

Anyone with information is being asked to the Chatham County Sheriffs Office at 542-2911.
