An America divided?--Part Two

"United we stand, divided we fall." These words are from a 70's love song, but clearly emphasize the tenuous state of our union if we can't agree on some of the serious issues like illegal immigration that America faces.

The subject of illegal immigration is truly an explosive one. On the one side there are those who believe that every person here illegally, or their "anchor babies," have no right to any of Uncle Sam's handouts and freebies, and that they all should be sent home. The other side believes in letting all illegal immigrants not only stay and get everything they can from Uncle Sam, but that they should be allowed to become American citizens since they are already here and contribute so much to society. Uh huh. Even some church denominations are backing the latter view, which actually encourages and condones breaking the law. Amazing.

What has happened to clear thinking in America? Yes we were founded as a nation of immigrants. We're talking about the kind of people who gave up everything, sacrificing life, families, and fortunes to build this great nation. Furthermore, they came here to become American citizens, not to form little Havannas, Tijuanas, or Meccas. Today immigrants, both legal and illegal, are more often clinging to their own customs and language rather than assimilating into our culture — becoming "Americanized." And this is divisive and harmful to a once united nation.

An overwhelming majority of Americans want serious action taken to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into America. Most illegals are from Third World countries, the majority from Mexico, and are not just harming our culture, but doing serious damage to our social services and infrastructure as well. Ask citizens in states like California, Arizona, and Texas. But every state in the union is experiencing their share of problems related to illegal immigration. So why isn't anything being done by our federal government that is supposed to protect its citizenry from all enemies, both foreign and domestic? Isn't this an invasion? Since we don't know the people coming here, aren't we in danger? Hello! Is anyone at home in Washington, DC? Of course they are at home. It's just that nobody is "answering the door."

So why aren't our elected officials attending to this serious matter? V. O. T. E. S. One side thinks that if all illegals get to stay, they will get more votes. The other side is afraid that if they do anything serious to stop illegal immigration, they will lose votes from the Hispanic community. Can anyone say pandering?

Perhaps you wonder how illegal aliens can vote. In some states people don't have to prove they are legal citizens to vote. Actually, in some states you don't even have to prove who you are to vote. Just how do you think so many dead people and convicted felons can vote? Just what are we thinking? Actually, we aren't thinking.

Media pundits tell us that illegals contribute greatly to our society. Yet if we really took time to consider their contributions, perhaps more people, if they were honest, would agree illegals do more harm than good.

We'll consider some of these contributions in part three of this message. Until then, why not pay closer attention to news reports involving illegal aliens? Warning: You won't hear much from the mainstream media. Try Rush, Sean Hannity, G. Gordon Liddy, or Larry Elder. Online you can go to Newsmax.com, Worldnetdaily, or Townhall.com. Truth can be found if you really want to know the truth, and really want a United States of America, instead a divided one. To anyone willing to hear....
