LAREDO, Texas (AP) - An elderly passenger on a bus from Mexico faces drug charges in Laredo after cocaine and heroin, worth $1.1 million, were found in a crate.
Prosecutors on Friday announced the arrest of 73-year-old Pedro Salgado Salgado of Houston.

Investigators say an X-ray of the wooden crate, being transported on the northbound commercial bus by Salgado Salgado, led to the discovery of a hollowed-out area.

Officers on Thursday discovered 22 bundles, with 10.7 pounds of heroin and 5.4 pounds of cocaine in the crate.

The commercial bus was entering Texas at the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge.

Salgado Salgado faces federal drug possession charges.
