American Voters - Dumber Than Usual
American Voters - Dumber Than Usual
It seems that nearly everyone in this country who has the legal right to vote, and quite a few that don’t but plan to vote anyway, has already figured out which of the three completely awful candidates they intend to support. However, a survey conducted by Pulse Opinion Research of 1,276 people who voted in the recent primaries indicated that most of the voters who were polled didn’t have any idea what their candidate’s position was on a variety of immigration issues. In many cases the position of the person polled, with respect to immigration, was the opposite of that held by the candidate they had voted for.
34 percent of McCain voters, 42 percent of Clinton voters, and 52 percent of Obama voters correctly identified their candidate as favoring amnesty for illegal aliens.
35 percent mistakenly thought McCain favored enforcement that would force the illegal aliens to go home, 10 percent thought he wanted mass deportations, and 21 percent didn’t know his position
Only 31 percent of McCain voters had the same immigration position as he does. For Clinton voters only 45 percent shared her position, and 61 percent of Obama voters shared his position
Nine out of ten Republican voters polled and seven out of ten Democrats polled said they favored illegal aliens having to return home.
Beyond the obvious indications derived from this poll we can also conclude from the results that, while the American people still believe that illegal aliens are one of this nation’s biggest problems, the avoidance of that topic by the candidates has worked in their favor.
John McCain, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama all have similar views on the the issue of amnesty for illegal aliens - each of them would sign any amnesty bill that was presented to them regardless of the hardship it caused to the American people. None of them intend to increase the enforcement of our immigration laws or strengthen our borders and all of them would be more than happy to see twice as many illegal aliens in the U.S. than are already here.
