America's Policy On Illegal Immigration

For the past twenty years America has experienced a steady increase in illegal immigration. The agriculture business began using illegal immigrants or legal temporary workers decades ago to do tough work like picking produce. The vast majority of workers came from Mexico or South America and were hard workers and very humble and thankful for their meager wages. No one really thought much about illegal immigration years ago because the numbers were small and they provided a service to farmers that was of great benefit. Illegal immigration has changed dramatically and has transformed into something much more complicated than a few farm workers. Illegals now work in all types of jobs, not just the jobs Americans wont do.

To understand how we have arrived at our current state of affairs with possibly twelve million illegal immigrants in our country one has to look at American politics and the struggles between labor and business. During the sixties unions had a fair amount of power and were able to bargain quite well for increased pay and benefits. Corporations hated unions and dreamed of a time when sweatshops were the norm and labor was nothing more than helpless minions with no power or money to speak of, reduced to mere beggars or homeless people, content to just afford a hot meal. This is what illegal immigration is really about. You may think I am crazy but just hear me out. American corporations set out a few years ago to destroy Americas unions and seek out labor at its lowest possible cost. It set up a system were it could move its operations to low wage countries and ship its goods back in tariff free and also enjoy some government protections in case the unexpected happened. NAFTA is an example. Their plan worked quite well and millions of good paying manufacturing jobs were moved out of the U.S. effectively breaking the backs of many unions.

Now that American corporations had labor on the ropes and smelled blood what could be done next. Many jobs just can't be outsourced. This is were illegal immigration comes in. By pressuring Washington into adopting a policy of allowing employers to hire illegal immigrants and break many other laws regarding taxes and social security, big business now felt they had the knockout punch that could once and all reduce labor to what it should be, merely human capital with no rights or freedoms, powerless people who in the robber baron years did not matter, and if injured or killed on the job so what. Illegal immigrants mainly come from Mexico or South America because of of the poor distribution of wealth in those areas. Many Mexicans are extremely wealthy but the majority are very poor. Since they are here illegally they are a corporate dream, labor with no rights or recourse, just glad to humbly accept meager wages.

The elites that are running America have been successful at their scheme of outsourcing combined with allowing a flood of illegal immigrants into our country to create a labor surplus, thus driving down the cost of labor and its bargaining power. They have done this by allowing business to operate outside the law and accusing those who disagree as being racist. Washington wants to keep illegal immigration right were its at so employers can take advantage of the fact they are here illegally and pay them accordingly. Many solutions on illegal immigration have been offered but most are just clever schemes to give business even more access to labor from around the globe so labor can be completely defeated. This goes hand in hand with the propaganda of free trade and globalization. Noble prize winning economist Milton Friedman once said "few trends could so thoroughly undermine the very foundations of our free society as the acceptance of corporate officials of a social responsibility other than to make as much money for their stock holders as possible". Think about this statement and remember that corporations enjoy the same rights as an American citizens. American citizens who neglect their social responsibilities often find themselves in jail. Avoiding military service or neglect of a dependant are are just a couple of examples.

To solve the illegal immigration problem America only needs to strictly monitor employers and hand out some large fines, revoke business licenses or assets and issue jail time to corporate executives. No fence needs to be built or guest worker program implemented. An increase in legal immigration could handle the labor needs of business and preserve the wages of American citizens. Doing away with NAFTA and helping Mexico to create an economy that distributes wealth in a fair manor would do wonders. Its time that free trade and the invisible hand theory of economics are exposed for what the really are, just propaganda to subjugate the working class and create a world were one percent of the population control ninety nine percent of the wealth.

I think we need to leave it up to American voters, from what I have read about 86% or more of Americans are against amnesty for illegals, and many are for their deportations and a wall or fence being built. Also punishments for those who hire illegals.

I agree. Leave it up to the AMERICAN voters, and not Big Business, the ACLU, LaRaza, and other special interests groups. We hired ALL of our lawmakers, and it is about time they started working for us! It isn't their duty to look after illegal aliens entering our country, staying, and demanding equal rights that only citizens are worthy of obtaining. It isn't their job to send out the 'welcome wagon', and to make sure America accommodates illegal aliens with housing, food and medical care.
