    Amnesty - Another Kennedy Carpool

    Amnesty - Another Kennedy Carpool
    By Robert Yoho
    June 18, 2007

In 1969, Sen. Ted Kennedy offered to drive a young woman named Mary Jo Kopechne home from a party. She died that night when a wealthy, powerful, and drunken senator drove off a bridge and left Miss Kopechne to drown in his submerged sedan. While the young woman tragically took her last breaths, the Senate's serial swiller was busy catching a nap and working on an alibi.

This week, Ted is behind the wheel of the amnesty wagon, driving another used car though the halls of Congress. In a dazzling show of chivalry, a man drunk with his own power has offered to drive President Bush, Lindsey Graham, and Trent Lott home. As he did with the young secretary at Chappaquiddick, Ted is taking Lindsey, George, and Trent for a ride. Moreover, they are giddily flattered by his company.

I am certainly not making light of the death of this young woman. To the contrary, I think it is a moral travesty that Ted Kennedy has been allowed to escape the confines of a jail cell or to remain a member of the United States Senate for these nearly 40 years. Nor do I think the death penalty would have been too harsh a sentence for his crime.

This time, Kennedy's actions will not immediately take a human life, although a number of innocents have certainly died at the hands of the illegals. However, the passage of this bill is clearly the death of principle. Moreover, it may ultimately prove to be the death of the Republican Party.

It would appear that fidelity isn't only a challenge for Sen. Kennedy. The Republicans are increasingly having some difficulties in that area also.

The suitors of George W. Bush carried him to the White House and across the threshold to the Oval Office. Lindsey Graham won the hearts of many for his impassioned pleas as a House manager in the Clinton impeachment trial. And Trent Lott's virtue was championed by conservatives when the critics wanted to crucify him for his kind words at an old man's birthday. Apparently, none of the faithful boys from their hometowns can hold a candle to the distinguished gentleman from Massachusetts.

We have a right to expect a higher standard from the president and Republican members of the United States Senate. They already know the man's driving record. When it comes to the subject of illegals, Kennedy has repeatedly taken the country for a ride. Yet Teddy flashes his pearly whites and tells them once again that he will get them home safely.

Conservatives have repeatedly cautioned them not to get into a car with Kennedy. But these silly girls think that they can finally make an honest man out of Ted. And I suppose they will cross that bridge when they come to it.

Teddy was saying the same things in 1986, when he took a bunch of GOPers for a ride on an amnesty for illegals bill. That came on the heels of his car pooling in 1965, when he dumped his lovers in the bay to carve another notch in his amnesty bunk.

But Ted knows the truth about what he's driving. Should they consummate this agreement, there will be no enforcement of the law. There never is any enforcement for Ted Kennedy--personally or professionally. Amnesty from wrongdoing is a Kennedy trademark.

Lindsey, George, and Trent need to learn one thing about the senator. Like his family's protege, Bill Clinton, there are only two pursuits for which Kennedy will whisper softly in your ear. And neither one of them will garner Teddy's respect in the morning.

Yet each of these three gently removed the ring from their fingers and quickly slipped it into their purses. The faithful, conservative guys who brought them to the dance are so quickly forgotten. And they will allow themselves to be defiled by a man with old money and an even older pickup line.

But they all have their reasons. George takes the moral high ground by claiming to be the designated driver. Lindsey believes it is his elective duty to hold hands with the inebriate. Trent just wants to shut off the radio, so the disk jockey cannot warn them about the dangers of drunk drivers.

This bill will do nothing to stem the tide of illegal immigration. In fact, it will only serve to make the problem worse and the eventual solution that much more difficult to attain. It is only about one thing: Ted's desire to have his way with another conquest.

Ted Kennedy is simply taking Lindsey, George, and Trent for a ride. And the three of them will eventually prove to be all wet!!!

Some of the senators must have been at one of kennedy's party and there is no telling what happened.
