Another season of bills
Will state take a role in immigration enforcement?
VOCES LATINAS
Pablo Ros
It remains to be seen whether bill proposals in the Indiana General Assembly that seek to give the state a role in immigration enforcement will become law this year.
The bills are not unlike past proposals and address only the enforcement side of the illegal immigration problem, ignoring the question of whether some undocumented immigrants already here should be allowed to apply for legal status. As in previous years, they are being criticized by some for their shortsightedness.
The bill proposals would, among other things, require state police to enforce immigration law, and employers to screen for illegal workers using the E-verify system.
Michael E. Durham, an immigration attorney in South Bend, said the proposals were a bad idea because they waste state resources on a federal job and for other reasons.

The latest word I have received is that since e-verify is key to this, they are trying to decide what to do if e-verify is not renewed.

Enforce laws on the books and try taking a look at The Constitution! If Palestine puts down their guns, there will be peace.
If Israel puts down their guns there will be no more Israel.

The Latinos should also realize that discrimination has been a part of this country's history for every legal immigrant: the Italians, Irish, and all the peoples coming here after wars. Don't speak perfect American, and many found that Americans would speak louder instead of slower.
These people have all assimilated but none of them is demanding what the Latinos, who refuse to assimilate, are demanding with no right to demand anything if they are here illegally.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
