The Central American Free Trade Agreement is a proposed agreement between the United States and five Central American nations. It will be voted on in Congress soon, at which time it will be combined with a proposed U.S.-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement.
Read the latest headlines about illegal immigration.
CAFTA is a piece in the Free Trade Area of the Americas jigsaw puzzle and is based on the same failed North American Free Trade Agreement model.
Its passage would serve to push ahead the corporate globalization model that has caused the "race to the bottom" in labor and environmental standards. Passage of these two initiatives would promote much more disastrous results and would remove national independence, setting up this hemisphere for globalization with one powerful organization ruling the world once it is combined with the European Union. Individual countries' laws would be superseded by those of one powerful organization.
To help save the independence of this country, save what jobs are left, help the environment as well as save the most basic individual freedoms we now enjoy, tell your congressmen and senators to oppose DR-CAFTA and FTAA now.
