Arkansas had the fastest growing Hispanic population nationwide between 2000 and 2005 or 48 percent, according to a Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation study.

The study also found the population of immigrants in Arkansas is growing much faster than the national average. About half of Arkansas immigrants are undocumented and most come to the state for work.

The highest foreign-born population shares can be found along the western edge of Arkansas, with the largest communities in Springdale, Rogers, Fayetteville and Fort Smith. The study was released in 2007 and the growing trend would suggest the numbers are greater today.

Today's THV Reporter Pam Baccam will have the story on why some immigrants chose to live in Arkansas and how well they have transitioned. The story will be on todaysthv.com and the "THV 10:00 Difference."
