A Springdale teen who fled after running over a 3-year-old in February pleaded guilty Thursday to leaving the scene of a fatality accident.

Aron Arzola Almeida, 18, was sentenced to six years in the Arkansas Department of Correction, with four years suspended. He received a judicial transfer to a regional punishment facility.

Almeida also received credit for 90 days served in the Washington County jail. He is likely to be deported to Mexico because he is an illegal alien.

Debby Sormile, 3, was hit by a Honda Accord driven by Almeida in front of her house at 1566-A Tolleson Loop. She was riding a skateboard and died at the scene. Almeida took the Accord to a body shop for repairs, where Springdale police found it. Detective Al Barrios said Almeida told police he did not see the girl until after he hit her. Barrios testified that investigators determined there was no way Almeida could have seen her.
