June 16, 2009

-- A man who killed an employee of a Bucks County tavern with his pickup truck has been sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison.

Police say Jose Maldonado-Luzuriaga, 35, was drunk when he showed up at the Salute Restaurant and Bar in Bensalem Township on Nov. 29 and was refused service.

After an argument, he hit employee Billy Sullo with his truck and pinned him to a wall, killing the 30-year-old.

Maldonado-Luzuriaga pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and aggravated assault on Monday in Bucks County Court.

Maldonado-Luzuriaga is an illegal immigrant and faces deportation to Ecuador after prison.
