It was just a year ago that an illegal aliens bill made news in the Kentucky Legislature before failing to pass.
This year the controversy has died down, but that's not stopping immigrants and refugees from making their voices heard.
They gathered Wednesday at the state capitol to lobby lawmakers.
They admit worries remain about efforts in the future to clamp down on undocumented immigrants.
Advocates are pushing the so called "Dream Act" which would allow children who came here as undocumented immigrants to have a path to citizenship.
A report by the Institute for Taxation and Economic Policy claims unauthorized immigrants paid $85 million in state and local taxes in Kentucky in 2010.
Last year's bill would have directed the police to enforce immigration laws.

I still don't understand why non-citizens have greater access to our elected officials that citizens do.
