Arizona’s Republican presidential primary set for Feb. 28

Arizona’s 2012 presidential primary will be Feb. 28. That could put the Grand Canyon State’s Republican primary on the same day as South Carolina -- which right now is also pegged for the last Tuesday in February. South Carolina could move its primary to another date, however.

Gov. Jan Brewer had pondered moving the primary to an earlier date, but opted for the end of February.

Right now, the GOP presidential primary schedule has the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 6. The New Hampshire primary is on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. The Nevada caucuses are held on Feb. 18 and then Arizona and South Carolina come Feb. 28.
