On July 29, 2010 while demonstrators were chaining themselves to the doors of the 4th Avenue jail in Phoenix, Arizona, members of the law enforcement community came together with members of Freedom Watch, Inc, and the Arizona Latino Republican Association to voice their reaction to the ruling that was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton.

The ruling stated that Arizona law enforcement officials could not question a person's immigration status when making lawful contact, nor can they detain a person until such status is verified. The law, however, does state that day laborers can no longer solicit for work on street corners in Phoenix, employers looking for cheap labor can no longer solicit day laborers for work, sanctuary city policies have been outlawed, and it is now illegal in the State of Arizona to harbor, aid, or transport an illegal alien.

"The hand cuffs come off today!" stated Senator Russell Pearce, co-author of the controversial new law. "This is a victory for Arizona because sanctuary city policies are no longer allowed in our state."

Jesse Hernandez, Chairman of the Arizona Latino Republican Association, went on to say, "If Mr. Gordon (Mayor of Phoenix Phil Gordon) and Tucson continue to provide sanctuary we will see them in litigation." The ALRA is the first Hispanic organization to publicly challenge the Obama Administration in support of SB1070.

Senate candidate Bob Thomas, LD 15, was also in attendance, as were members of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association, or P.L.E.A. "It seems the only thing the Obama Administration is willing to do is to spend our money suing Arizona Citizens," Thomas remarked. " Rather than fulfill their duty to our citizens to protect us form foreign oppression, the Federal government is coming after us."
