Arpaio gives Guadalupe 180 days to break ties

Countering threats that Guadalupe town leaders would get someone else to enforce laws there, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said today he is giving the town 180 days to either renew or end their contract with him.

If they decide to end it, the sheriff’s office will leave as the primary police in the tiny town that sits between Tempe and Phoenix.

If they renew, he said he will require the full authority to police the town any way he wants.
