An illegal immigrant who drove drunk and killed two people last December will spend the next decade behind bars.

In court Tuesday, Victor Rodriguez apologized for what happened that night. But one victim's father said there's no apology in the world that can bring his son back.

Javier Alcantara and his wife, Ruteena, said it feels like just yesterday that their 22-year-old son was killed by a drunken driver.

"It's made everything difficult -- weekends, holidays, his birthday is coming in October," Ruteena Alcantara said.

Rodriguez will spend the next 10 to 20 years in prison for Danny Alcantara's death.

Prosecutors said Rodriguez had been drinking at a holiday party last December before he lost control of his SUV near 42nd and H streets, where he slammed head-on into a car carrying Danny Alcantara and his girlfriend.

Investigators said Rodriguez, who had no license, was speeding and then ran from the scene.

The crash also killed Rodriguez's passenger, 24-year-old Manuel Santos-Gomez.

Prosecutors pleaded with the judge to give Rodriguez a stiff sentence because they said every choice he made leading up to the crash was voluntary.

Rodriguez read an apology letter in Spanish in the courtroom Tuesday, saying he didn't remember the crash.

He's eligible for release in about 10 years. After that, he'll be deported.

So now two more people are dead and our tax money will pay for all the illegal's needs while he is in prison. Had our laws been enforced in the first place, these people would still be alive. Thousands of illegals have killed citizens while driving drunk!

The politicians advocating non-enforcement of our immigration laws are the ones who should be offering apologies!

It's estimated that 14 Americans are killed each a day by illegal immigrants
85% are killed by drunk drivers, who probably got they're license in New Mexico! Jobs and money are bad enough, but this has got to stop!

We need to start to deduct the cost of keeping an illegal in our prisons from the bank holdings from their homeland. The USA has such holding for just about every country in the world here. Why not start to take some of it to pay the costs we are incurring with their illegals they have let come here.
