PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say a U.S. Border Patrol agent has been injured in an ATV accident near Gila Bend.

A Border Patrol spokesman says the agent was attempting to apprehend a group of suspected illegal immigrants when his ATV crashed Friday morning.

The Arizona Republic reported that the agent was transported to a medical facility. The agent's name hasn't been released and Border Patrol officials didn't respond Monday for a condition update.

Authorities say the accident occurred on the Barry M. Goldwater Range near Arizona 85 southwest of Gila Bend.
