Attack on Mexico political rally kills 3, wounds 6

ZINACANTAN, Mexico — A mob armed with clubs, stones and guns attacked a political rally in southern Mexico on Saturday, sparking hours of clashes that left three people dead and six more wounded.

Municipal police officer Mario Lopez said the attack in the town of Nachig, in Chiapas state, happened during a morning campaign event for Domingo Perez, a mayoral candidate representing the Democratic Revolution Party, or PRD, in Aug. 4 elections.

Hundreds of people armed with clubs and stones attacked the rally. Lopez said some pulled out weapons and fired on people gathered in a town park.

The violence lasted several hours and left a toll of three dead and six wounded - two seriously, according to local prosecutors. Some 15 homes and 20 cars were burned.

Hundreds of state police were deployed to Nachig to restore order.

According to Lopez, the attackers were followers of Jose Hernandez of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, who has had a long-running dispute with the PRD's Perez.

Authorities detained Hernandez and five other people.

I'm sorry, but did I suddenly wake up in a Planet of the Apes movie? Homes and cars burned by murderous mobs killing political opponents?

And how long before we see that in our streets in America?

Mexico is nothing more than another version of Afghanistan in the western hemisphere. Drug Lords controling most of the country and government for that matter, different factions fighting each other, a populace driven into despotism and lawlessness, unfortunatly we have to share a border with them.

15 homes and 20 cars were burned.

This could not happen in large swaths of rural America where people could defend their families, cars, and homes with our 2cd Amendment rights.

If they take those away, we will be as defenseless as those in Mexico are.

The problem in Mexico is that the Government and the gangs have guns but the citizens do not.

Mexico needs a 2cd amendment.
