A 42-year-old man living illegally in Houma was arrested on multiple counts of child pornography, authorities said.

Jose Juan Hernandez is charged with one count of distribution of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 and 17 counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13, state Attorney General Jeff Landry said Wednesday in a news release.

“Yet again, our office has arrested another illegal immigrant accused of exploiting children,” Landry said. “This man who should not be in our country has been picked up for possessing and distributing pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13.”

Hernandez’s arrest resulted from a joint investigation with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, authorities said.
Landry said this arrest and countless others throughout the state highlight the need for “improved border security.”

“Too many Louisiana families have become victims of crime because of our Southern border in name only,” Landry said. “So I again urge the Congress to support President Trump, build the wall, and help us make our communities safer.”

Hernandez was booked into the Lafourche Parish jail, where he remains on a $100,000 bond. A detainer was also placed on him by ICE, Landry said.
