Austin businessman, family arrested for visa fraud

An Austin area businessman and four family members were arrested this week in connection with a H-2B visa fraud scheme, officials announced this week.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials arrested Jose Ramiro Vicharelly, 54, on Tuesday. He is president and executive director of International Staff Solutions Inc., which does business under the name Texas Staffing Resources. Calls to the company on Wednesday were not answered.

Ramiro Vicharelly's wife Irma Lopez Vicharelly, daughter Angela Paola Faulk, son-in-law Servando Gonzalez Jr. and former TSR account manager Pedro Saul Ocampo Munguia were also arrested in connection with the investigation.

A federal grand jury in Austin charged the defendants with conspiracy to commit visa fraud and conspiracy to encourage aliens to illegally enter and reside in the United States. The court alleges the group knowingly acquired H-2B visas under false pretenses over an seven-year period.

The indictment seeks a $1 million monetary judgment as well as money from three bank accounts and several vehicles believed to have been purchased with allegedly ill-gotten funds. If convicted, the the defendants could face federal prison time.
