MASON - Law enforcement officials are seeking help in finding the last of three men suspected of involvement in the stabbing death of a Mason man in August.

Enrique Torres, 36, is wanted on an indictment for the murder of 27-year-old Kevin Barnhill after a fight at the Mason Pub, 753 Reading Road.

Authorities believe Torres may be hiding in the Hamilton area.

Two other suspects, Humberto Mota, 30, and his brother Jose Mota, 40, are jailed as they await their scheduled two-day jury trial on Feb. 8.

Mason police responded to reports of a man with a baseball bat at the Mason Bowl, 763 Reading Road, at 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 26.

Upon arriving, police found Barnhill lying nearby with stab wounds.

According to a Mason police report, Barnhill was stabbed in the chest and was still breathing when police found him.

Emergency medical crews were unable to save Barnhill and he died at the scene.

Barnhill's murder was the first in Mason since 2000.

The murder charges the three men face carry penalties of 15 years to life in prison.

Anyone assisting Torres could be charged with felony obstruction of justice, an offense that carries a potential jail sentence of up to five years, according to Warren County Prosecutor Rachel Hutzel.

Hutzel appealed to the public for help in locating Torres.

"What they are accused of doing was a horrible crime," Hutzel said of the suspects.

"We have a family that is suffering as a result of what these three are alleged to have done."

She said the suspects are illegal aliens and that is an added concern.

"We don't want aliens coming here and committing crimes, it's very hard to track them down," said Hutzel.

"We can't let people get the idea that they can come here, commit these types of crimes and get away with it."
