$803,000 worth of marijuana abandoned

Border Patrol agents seized approximately 1,000 pounds of marijuana valued at more than $800,000 from a vehicle abandoned at the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to Agent Aaron Van Zee, a spokesman for the El Centro Sector's public affairs office, agents observed a sport utility vehicle traveling northbound from the border just east of Mount Signal at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Van Zee said as agents approached the vehicle, it quickly turned south and headed back toward the border.
