DOUGLAS, Ariz. (AP) - Federal authorities say two women from Mexico have been arrested after nearly 70 pounds of marijuana was found concealed in the vehicle they occupied.

U..S. Customs and Border Protection Officers were screening travelers Monday at the Douglas port of entry and stopped a car driven by a 42-year-old woman with a 40-year-old female passenger.

They say an inspection resulted in the discovery of 68 pounds of marijuana concealed in packages. Authorities say some of the marijuana was in a compartment built into the seat cushion of the back seat with some vacuum-sealed packages floating in the gas tank. The marijuana was valued at $109,000.

Authorities seized the vehicle and marijuana and turned the two women from Hermosillo, Sonora, over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for prosecution.
