A Guatemalan man allegedly in the country illegally went on a bloody morning rampage in a Leominster plastics factory, slashing his girlfriend’s throat, cutting a woman who came to her aid, and slitting his wrists before leading cops on a nearly four-hour chase, police said.

Aaron Noe Camey Valenzuela, 23, has been charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of assault and battery, according to Leominster police Lt. Michael Goldman.

At about 7 a.m., Valenzuela went to his girlfriend’s work station at United Solutions in Leominster and began punching her, Goldman said. When another woman came to help her, Valenzuela pulled a pocket knife and slashed his girlfriend’s throat, then cut the cheek of the other woman, police said.

After a supervisor pulled him outside the building, Valenzuela pulled another knife and slit his own wrists, neck and abdomen and fled, Goldman said.

The attack may have been triggered by problems with Valenzuela’s girlfriend, who may have been preparing to end their relationship, Goldman said.

State police dogs and a helicopter tracked Valenzuela to a city-owned apple orchard, where he surrendered to police, according to Goldman.

The girlfriend had surgery at University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center and is in stable condition, police said. The co-worker was treated and released.

Valenzuela is at Leominster Hospital, Goldman said, and his condition is unknown.

Valenzuela, a Leominster resident, was deported in 2006 but returned illegally to the United States from Guatamala, Goldman said.

Leominster man held in stabbing of two women
    Ex-girlfriend and co-worker slashed

Their rocky relationship had already prompted officials at their Leominster workplace to physically separate them, authorities said.

But yesterday, Aaron Noel Camey Valenzuela, 23, approached his former girlfriend and stabbed her in the throat, before slashing a woman who tried to help her and leading police on a 3 1/2-hour chase, authorities said.

After Valenzuela allegedly stabbed the woman’s co-worker at United Solutions who intervened, he fled on foot, police said, and later turned the knife on himself, cutting his own wrists and throat.

After police were called to the scene, they launched a search effort that involved a helicopter and police dogs. Police eventually reached Valenzuela on his cellphone and coaxed him to surrender. Police found him in a city-owned apple orchard, Sholan Farms, where his footprints led to a large wooden crate in which he had been hiding.

“They knew he was around there somewhere,’’ said Leominster Police Lieutenant Scott Bernier.

Valenzuela, who is from Guatemala, was in the country illegally, Leominster Police Lieutenant Michael Goldman said. He had been ordered deported in 2006 but had been living in Leominster for about a month.

He was charged with assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Police said he probably will be arraigned this morning from his bed at HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster, where he was taken for self-inflicted wounds.

His former girlfriend, whom police would not identify, was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where she underwent surgery and was in stable condition, police said. She is expected to survive, investigators said.

The woman who came to the estranged girlfriend’s defense also was taken to HealthAlliance. Police also declined to identify her, and her condition was not available.

United Solutions, where the suspect and victims work, is a plastics factory that supplies housewares, paint, and office products.

Police said that a little more than a week ago, Valenzuela and his former girlfriend were assigned to separate parts of the workplace to defuse a tense situation.

Goldman said the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, the largest investigative agency of the Department of Homeland Security, will take over Valenzuela’s case.

On Sunday morning, Aaron Noe Camey Valenzuela, 23, walked into the United Solutions plastics factory in Leominster, Massachusetts, grabbed his girlfriend from behind, and slashed her throat.

The woman, Elba Monges, was taken to the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center, where emergency surgery was performed, and is currently in stable condition.

Another woman, Mary Machado, was also stabbed by Valenzuela when she came to the aid of her co-worker. Her injuries were not serious.

According to Leominster police Lt. Michael Goldman, a plant supervisor wrestled Valenzuela out of the building, at which time the assailant produced a another knife and began cutting himself. Valenzuela slashed at his own wrists, neck, and abdomen, but his wounds were apparently not serious.

The Guatemalan national fled the scene and was captured four hours later in a nearby apple orchard.

Valenzuela, was charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as well as one count of assault and battery.

Lt. Goldman told reporters that Valenzuela was angry with his girlfriend because he believed she was going to break up with him.

Valenzuela was deported in 2006. He is being held on $100,000 bail.

In another case, which should serve as an indictment of the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. District Judge David Cercone sentenced an illegal alien to probation in November 2009, after his 10th illegal crossing into the United States.

U.S. Attorney Robert Cessar said that between 1998 and 2007, Uziel Jesus Lopez-Jiminez, 28, had been deported back to Mexico nine times.

His last arrest and deportation came as a result of a DUI conviction in Beaver County, PA.

The Mexican national has committed at least nine felonies in this country.

The court proceeding came only a few days after Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told a crowd gathered at the Center for American Progress, that border enforcement was now much tougher and we can now proceed with an Amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens inside this country.

Citing the supposed improvements in border enforcement, Napolitano said: "I've been dealing hands-on with immigration issues since 1993, so trust me: I know a major shift when I see one, and what I have seen makes reform far more attainable this time around.â€

    Slash attack ‘domestic’
Suspect later cut his own wrist and throat

    Mr. Valenzuela

Judge Curran said a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency warrant has been issued for Mr. Valenzuela, asserting he has been living in the country illegally. Mr. Bachmann said Mr. Valenzuela has lived
    in Massachusetts
    for three years.

LEOMINSTER — A protracted domestic dispute apparently sparked a knife attack on two women at a plastics warehouse Sunday morning.

The estranged boyfriend of one of the women allegedly slashed her throat, then cut the face of a female co-worker who came to her aid. All three were working at the warehouse at the time.

Aaron N. Valenzuela, 23, of 211 Mechanic St., was ordered held on $100,000 cash bail, or $1 million in surety, at his arraignment yesterday in Leominster District Court.

A native of Guatemala who may be in the U.S. illegally, he also cut his own wrists and throat while on the run from police for more than three hours after the incident at United Solutions, 33 Patriot’s Circle, in the Jytek Industrial Park off Route 12. He was discovered hiding in an apple crate at Sholan Farm, a few miles from the warehouse.

According to a police report, Mr. Valenzuela had been moved to a different area of the warehouse by his employer because of the three-week long dispute with his former live-in girlfriend, Elba Monges, with whom he has a 4-month-old son. Around 7 a.m. Sunday, police said, he left his work area and walked to Ms. Monges’ area during a shift change.

A witness told police Mr. Valenzuela grabbed Ms. Monges from behind and punched her. A co-worker, Mary Machado, tried to intervene, but Mr. Valenzuela allegedly slashed her across the face with a weapon described in court as a “razor knife.â€
