A Guatemalan man allegedly in the country illegally went on a bloody morning rampage in a Leominster plastics factory, slashing his girlfriend’s throat, cutting a woman who came to her aid, and slitting his wrists before leading cops on a nearly four-hour chase, police said.

Aaron Noe Camey Valenzuela, 23, has been charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of assault and battery, according to Leominster police Lt. Michael Goldman.

At about 7 a.m., Valenzuela went to his girlfriend’s work station at United Solutions in Leominster and began punching her, Goldman said. When another woman came to help her, Valenzuela pulled a pocket knife and slashed his girlfriend’s throat, then cut the cheek of the other woman, police said.

After a supervisor pulled him outside the building, Valenzuela pulled another knife and slit his own wrists, neck and abdomen and fled, Goldman said.

The attack may have been triggered by problems with Valenzuela’s girlfriend, who may have been preparing to end their relationship, Goldman said.

State police dogs and a helicopter tracked Valenzuela to a city-owned apple orchard, where he surrendered to police, according to Goldman.

The girlfriend had surgery at University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center and is in stable condition, police said. The co-worker was treated and released.

Valenzuela is at Leominster Hospital, Goldman said, and his condition is unknown.

Valenzuela, a Leominster resident, was deported in 2006 but returned illegally to the United States from Guatamala, Goldman said.
