Protesters greeted Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his deputies Friday as he launched the latest in his series of "crime suppression" sweeps.
The Sheriff kicked off the operation with a press conference near the town of Buckeye near Interstate 10 and Miller Road.
Arpaio calls the area "a hotbed of human smuggling" that breeds violence.
Authorities say since 2002 the Sheriff's Office has investigated ninety murders in the area, 39 murder victims were undocumented immigrants.
"We fear this kind of violence will continue in Maricopa County, " he said. "In this area, illegals have been executed, tied up, shot in the head."
"You talk about about one thing and talk about it as if what you're doing on the ground makes sense, " said protester Annie Loyd. "This doesn't make sense. If you want to investigate real criminals go after real criminals not people with broken windshields and people who are brown."
The sheriff conducted four similar sweeps in the Phoenix area last year, drawing the ire of activists who accused him of targeting undocumented immigrants and abusing their rights.
Deputies will conduct traffic stops, and if they find suspected undocumented immigrants they'll arrest them.
Deputies will be out in full force Friday and Saturday until around midnight.

GO SHERIFF JOE!
This doesn't make sense. If you want to investigate real criminals go after real criminals not people with broken windshields and people who are brown."
My question is, why focus on the protesters? Was there no regular American that had an opposite opinion? No bias here whatsoever!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

2. Brown? Isn't everyone in Arizona one shade of brown or another? Isn't it normal if you live in sunny climes, to be tanned all year round?Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Arpaio holds smuggling crackdown near Buckeye
January 9th, 2009 @ 7:40pm
by Sandra Haros/KTAR
The first human smuggling crackdown by Sheriff Joe Arpaio happened tonight near Buckeye.
Sheriff Arpaio said he picked Buckeye because it's become popular with illegal immigration traffic and the violence that typically comes with it.
"Right in this area, you're standing on the land, where illegals were executed, tied up, shot in the head, assassinated," Arpaio said. "Just recently we had someone who was burned beyond recognition."
Protestors who showed up, like Valley attorney Antonio Bustamante, said they're not buying Arpaio's explanation. The Sheriff is violating the rights of the working-class people who are not criminals, Bustamante said.
"They are racially profiled and if you're brown today, in this part of the county, you will be pulled over," Bustamante said. "And the Sheriff will justify that by calling it a crime suppression sweep.
He's not doing this for anything other than self-aggrandizement. This is not what any elected official is put in office to do."

If any of these protestors were in trouble who could they call?
Sounds like a high crime area that needs serious work to help protect everyone.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at https://eepurl.com/cktGTn
