URGENT - Horrible News for 2008

After Loss of Majority, Several Republicans Head for Exits

WASHINGTON, Aug. 17 — A rash of retirements among House Republicans is adding to the party’s electoral challenges and raising questions about a rush for the exits.

Four House Republicans — Representatives J. Dennis Hastert and Ray LaHood, both of Illinois; Deborah Pryce of Ohio; and Charles W. Pickering Jr. of Mississippi — have all announced in recent days that they will not seek re-election next year, worrying Republican leaders anxious to hold back a potential wave of retirements after the loss of their majority in 2006. Mr. Hastert, the former speaker, Mr. LaHood and Ms. Pryce were all well-liked leaders within their party.

[b]“I think our party’s chances for winning the majority back next time are pretty bleak at the moment,â€

The large bold print above looks like a concession on the part of republicans!!!! The number of republicans up for election is going to be tremendous. IF A DEMOCRAT wins the white House, with a democrat majority in congress, ALL IS LOST.

WE MUST BE PREPARED FOR A MAJ0R FIGHT!

Yes, we are in for a major fight.

That fight is lost, however, if party politics plays any part in our decision. That's the way they have gotten so much garbage done up until now.

They convinced us, 'they' were on 'our' side whichever side that might be - but they are all working together to get things done.

With the exception of the last vote - what have the so called Republicans done in the last 20 years about illegal immigration, globalism, outsourcing, the NAU, etc.

    Every Republican and Independent

Every Republican and Independent needs to thank Bush for this.

He has single handedly given the White House, Congress and the Senate to a Pro Immigrant party during the next 2 elections

I honestly believe immigration is going to play a major roll in the 2008 elections.Whoever is the strongest anti-Illegal,no matter party affiliation,is going to win.

Yes, I think immigration is going to be the point for many of us -

There are three that seem to want to do something about illegal immigration. I do hope when it gets down to the semi-finish line, two of them will make the sacrifice and put their clout and power behind just one. I hope we aren't so splintered, none of them win.

Just think which ever won the Presidency, the others could be AG, or Homeland Security Chief -

There are plenty of ways they could work to help us with this problem - other than the Presidency.

    Just a thought.

Look at the source, The New York Times, one of the most liberal newspapers in the country.

Yes, agree that Bush has fractured the Rep party which will be part of his legacy.

Illegal immigration will be a huge issue in the 2008 elections whether the Dems want to discuss it or not. This issue may keep them from winning like so many want to believe. So much can happen between now and then.

If we think the 'party' affiliation makes a difference - we have lost.

That's the ruse they have used for decades to keep us on their side so they can continue doing what they are paid to do - by their owners and that isn't us.

They have all worked quietly and in tandem to bring about this debacle of illegal immigration - for 30 years - they have condoned, protected, and encouraged it.

They have worked together to bring about the HB visa workers - other temp workers that have taken jobs.

They have worked together to get one-sided trade deals that has destroyed Americans economy.

They have worked together in just about everything detrimental that has happened in this country in the last 40-50 years.

Party politicians is just a myth.

The only problem there is, there are no independents as yet, and NOT A SINGLE DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE HAS STOOD AGAINST SHAMNESTY.
