Border Patrol agents found almost 1.5 tons of marijuana among boxes of rotten squash and jalapeños at a highway checkpoint near Sonoita on Tuesday, a border patrol spokesman said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was arrested at a checkpoint on state Route 82 and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Supervisory Agent Chuy Rodriguez said.
ICE also seized the 46 bundles of pot, which have a street value of $3.3 million, he said.
