YUMA, Ariz. - Border Patrol agents working in southwest Arizona say they've apprehended six suspected illegal immigrants and seized nearly 230 pounds of marijuana near Gila Bend.

Agents patrolling the desert Monday noticed several footprints which led them to the immigrants.

The Border Patrol says agents eventually discovered five backpacks filled with 227 pounds of marijuana hidden in nearby bushes.

The six suspected illegal immigrants were processed for prosecution under Operation Streamline. That's a zero tolerance border enforcement program that puts immigrants through the federal criminal justice system.

Authorities say the seized narcotics are valued at $113,000.
