WELLTON, Ariz. - U.S. Border Patrol agents say they have arrested three suspected drug smugglers and seized nearly 240 pounds of marijuana in a remote area of the southwest Arizona desert.
Agents assigned to Yuma sector's Camp Grip detected the illegal entry of several individuals about 30 miles west of Lukeville on Tuesday morning. They tracked the group for more than 12 hours before apprehending three suspected smugglers and seizing five makeshift backpacks full of marijuana worth an estimated $188,000.
Authorities say the suspected smugglers were transported to the Wellton Border Patrol Station. Their names and nationalities were not released
