    Border Patrol arrests 6 with criminal pasts

    A summary of Border Patrol activities in the Tucson Sector since Saturday, provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

    Arrests

    Tucson Station agents apprehended a 29-year-old male Mexican man accused of illegally re-entering the United States on Sunday. Efrain Rodriguez Sanchez, of Jalisco, was convicted in 2010 for attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Illinois. He was sentenced to two years in prison. He faces federal charges for re-entry of an aggravated felon.

    Also on Sunday, Tucson Station agents apprehended a 48-year-old man from El Salvador. Oscar Argueta Viera, of San Miguel, El Salvador, for allegedly re-entering the United States illegally. Argueta was convicted in 1994 of involuntary manslaughter and assault with a firearm in Los Angeles. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison. He now faces federal charges for re-entry of an aggravated felon.

    Naco Station agents apprehended a Mexican man from Guerrero, Mexico, after he illegally entered the United States on Saturday. During processing, agents discovered he has ties to the Ocho street gang in California and a prior removal. He was held for federal prosecution.

    Douglas Station agents apprehended a 27-year-old Mexican man for illegal entry Saturday. Carlos Duran Millanes, of Navajoa, Mexico, was convicted of felony endangerment and sentenced to 180 days in jail. He also had a prior removal and now faces federal charges for re-entry of an aggravated felon.

    Casa Grande Station agents apprehended 43-year-old man from Mexico. Jesus Sanchez Flores from Morelos, Mexico, is accused of illegally entering the United States on Friday. During processing, he admitted to being a member of Sureño 13 street gang. He also has a conviction for narcotics possession and a prior removal. He was held for federal prosecution.

    Also in Casa Grande on Friday, agents apprehended a Mexican man for being in the United States illegally. Record checks revealed he was arrested in California for having sex with a minor and three counts of child molestation. He was previously deported and now faces federal charges for re-entry of an aggravated felon.

    Rescues

    Ajo Station agents, responding to a report Sunday of a person in distress on the side of a road, found a 50-year-old man who was severely dehydrated and incoherent. He was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

    Casa Grande Station agents encountered a single rollover accident Sunday on U.S. 15. Agents notified Emergency Medical Services that the driver and sole occupant was in need of medical attention. EMS responded and took her to a local medical facility for treatment.

    Assists

    Douglas Station agents received a request from Cochise County Sheriff’s Office to help locate a person who had fled in a vehicle a deputy was attempting to stop. Agents, with assistance from Air and Marine air assets, located the the man and turned him over to CCSO. Two bundles of marijuana found in the car were seized.

    TUCSON, AZ (KPHO) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents made a number of arrests over the weekend.

    Tucson Station agents apprehended a 29-year-old male Mexican national Sunday for illegally re-entering the U.S. following a 2010 conviction for attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Illinois. Efrain Rodriguez-Sanchez, from Jalisco, Mexico, was sentenced to two years in prison. He now faces federal charges for re-entry of an aggravated felon.

    TUCSON, Ariz. - Over the weekend, Border Patrol agents in the Tucson sector arrested three smugglers and seized an estimated $2.2 million worth of marijuana.

    On Saturday, Ajo station agents found 42 bundles of marijuana in the western desert area. The drugs, worth an estimated $961,000, weighed 1,922 pounds. Three Mexican nationals were arrested and face federal prosecution for narcotics smuggling.

    Sunday night, Casa Grande agents seized 16 backpack-style marijuana bundles weighing 872 pounds near Quitoja. The pot is estimated to be worth $436,000.

    In two separate incidents on Monday, agents seized 1,617 pounds of marijuana. In one case, an abandoned Jeep Grand Cherokee was found in a remote area. 86 bundles of pot weighing 1,093 pounds was found inside. The drugs are worth an estimated $546,500.

    All of the seized narcotics will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

    The Border Patrol did not release the names of the Mexican nationals.
