Lou Dobbs Tonight 6/23/08 What Has Congress Accomplished?

    Lou Dobbs Tonight
    Monday, June 23, 2008

Tonight, we’ll have all the day’s news from the campaign trail
and an update from the Midwest as flood-devastated towns begin
    to clean up. Plus:

    * In Florida, television research company Nielsen is firing
Americans and replacing them with workers at an Indian firm.
One of the conditions of severance for the fired workers is
that they have to train their replacements. Nielsen had been
getting tax breaks but has now told city officials it will
forgo the breaks and continue firing Americans and hiring
    foreign workers.

    * The U.S. Trade Office actively worked with the Chinese
government to prevent the Maryland General Assembly from
banning certain products made with lead. Separately, the World
Trade Organization also put out a report criticizing a Maryland
General Assembly measure that would ban a dangerous chemical
compound in children’s products. We’ll take a look at the
obstructionist actions by big government to favor industry
above the safety of American consumers.

    * Congress is about to go on recess for Independence Day, then
go on recess again for an August vacation and the parties’
nominating conventions. We’ll take a look at what the current
Congress has (or has not) accomplished this year.

    * Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has been harshly
criticized by environmental groups for using his authority to
bypass some laws and regulations to quickly build the border
fence. But the Supreme Court has sided with the Bush
administration to allow the fast track policies in building the
    fence.

    * The Border Patrol still doesn’t have enough manpower to deal
with the raging drug war affecting our Southern border town. In
one of the latest incidents, a high-speed drug chase in Yuma
Arizona resulted in 238 pounds of confiscated marijuana -- but
no drug smuggler. The Border Patrol is trying to step up its
efforts to meet the federal mandate to employ 18,000 agents by
the end of the year, but the agency is currently more than
    1,500 agents short.

Lou’s new radio program, the Lou Dobbs Show, debuted in March.
Join us weekdays from 3-6 p.m. Eastern, for a look at news and
politics aimed at independent thinkers. Check your local
listings at LouDobbsRadio.com, or listen live online.

Today, Libertarian Presidential Candidate Bob Barr joins Lou to
talk about his chances of taking down the two major political
parties in November. We’ll also have a discussion of those two
major political parties’ presidential candidates’ attempts to
    “go green.â€

Perhaps Lou will ask Barr where he stands on amnesty. Of course we already know the answer to that, however, it never hurts for the information to be thrown out in front of as many Americans as possible.

WHAT TRASH! Nielsen should have their right to conduct any business within the U.S. yanked away from them!

Was Barr on? If so, I must have missed it (was away from the TV for around 10 min.).

Did you listen to the radio show? If so, did Lou ask Barr about his support of amnesty?
