SIOUX CITY – A Mexican man pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Sioux City to illegally re-entering the United States as a convicted felon.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa said in a statement released Wednesday that Rigoberto Hernandez-Ventura, 31, admitted that he re-entered the country from Mexico in October 2006. He was deported in May of 2006 after being convicted of identity theft in Woodbury County.

Sioux City police arrested Hernandez-Ventura July 6, 2010, for forgery.

Hernandez-Ventura faces up to 20 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and a special assessment of $100. A date for his sentencing hearing has not been set.
