Corrections Corporation of America Announces New Detention Center for Immigration and New Contract Award From Arizona

Company extends federal and state partnerships.

The North Georgia Detention Facility will serve ICE's need for detention capacity as part of the government's strategy to deter illegal immigration and protect public safety.

Nashville, TN (Vocus) March 13, 2009 -- Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), the nation's largest provider of corrections management services to state, federal and local government, today announced two important company developments -- a new contract to manage detainee populations for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ("ICE") at the North Georgia Detention Center in Hall County, Georgia and a new contract with the state of Arizona to manage up to 752 Arizona inmates at CCA's 752-bed Huerfano County Correctional Center in Colorado.

Under a five-year Inter-Governmental Service Agreement between Hall County, Georgia and ICE, CCA will house up to 500 ICE detainees at the 502-bed North Georgia Detention Center. The Company will lease for up to 30 years the former Hall County Jail from Hall County and anticipates opening the facility during the second quarter of 2009.

"We are proud to expand our partnership with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement," said John Ferguson, CCA's Chief Executive Officer. "The North Georgia Detention Facility will serve ICE's need for detention capacity as part of the government's strategy to deter illegal immigration and protect public safety." CCA currently partners with ICE to manage detainees at 12 CCA facilities.

CCA will employ approximately 160 correctional professionals in security, facility management, accounting, health services, human resources, business management, quality assurance and education. Interested applicants can visit www.ccajob.com to apply online.

"CCA will offer employees in North Georgia competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits," said Doug Swope, CCA senior director, Human Resources. "Employees will be joining an established, proven national company and will have opportunities for professional advancement."
Regarding the Arizona competitively bid award, CCA currently houses approximately 2,100 inmates from the state of Arizona at the CCA Diamondback Correctional Facility, located in Oklahoma pursuant to a separate management contract. This new contract, which goes into effect immediately, has terms up to five years. CCA is currently working with the state of Colorado to relocate approximately 600 inmates housed at the Huerfano facility to CCA's three other facilities located in Colorado. Concurrently, the company is working with the state of Arizona to establish a ramp-up schedule for their inmates.

"We are grateful that the state of Arizona has expanded our relationship and entrusted these additional inmates into our care," stated John Ferguson. "We are also pleased to continue executing our strategy of providing just-in-time beds to meet our customers' needs."
