DPS Arrests 3 for Transporting Drugs

VAIL, Ariz. - A traffic stop near Vail, Ariz. has led to the apprehension of three men for transporting and selling dangerous drugs.

Friday, DPS Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop a vehicle on I-10 near milepost 283. The vehicle fled from officers and came to a stop a few miles away.

Three occupants of the vehicle jumped out and ran into a neighborhood.

DPS officers and Pima County Sheriff's deputies surrounded the area and kept the suspects pinned to a single location. The suspects were taken down with the help of a K-9 team.

Officers located 187 pounds of marijuana inside the vehicle.

The driver, a Phoenix resident, and the passengers, two illegal immigrants from Mexico, were booked into the Pima County Jail.

They are identified as 20-year-old Carlos A. Romero of Phoenix, 23-year-old Juan Benitez-Carlon of Los Mochis, Mexico, and 31-year-old Manuel German-Lopez of Oaxaca, Mexico. Their booking photos were not made available.
