Higher Ed immigration bill dead this session

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Legislation that would require Tennessee's public colleges and universities to more carefully screen out illegal immigrants is dead for the session.

The House Higher Education Subcommittee on Tuesday delayed the measure sponsored by Republican Rep. Stacey Campfield of Knoxville until January 2010. The companion bill has been withdrawn from consideration in the Senate Education Committee.

Campfield says officials aren't doing enough to determine whether students are U.S. citizens.

Higher education officials currently rely on students to accurately fill out forms that ask for their Social Security numbers, home addresses and which high school they graduated from.

However, with higher education facing deep budget cuts and layoffs, officials have said it would be tough financially to more aggressively vet students' immigration status.

There are also so many illegal alien supporters and lobbying groups in the halls of the Tennessee legislature. They camp out in Nashville and name call and use the local newspapers and media as their mouth pieces. Some of the same reporters are seen writing sympathy articles for the La Raza type groups demanding more benefits. They only write the "sob" stories. The Tennessean seems to have many stories that never show what happens to Americans due to illegal immigration, but they certainly have stories railing against the 287g, etc. Same words we hear every day - "Discrimination, profiling, etc. and the crying goes on.

Does anyone get the impression as they are watching illegals marching in our streets and demanding that we given them money, what it will be like if they are given Amnesty? They will be out of control and violence will fill our communites because the illegals will have learned that if they carry on loud enough our gov't will give them anything they want.......
