Thread: Driver in Immigrant Van Crash Sentenced

DENVER (AP) - The driver of a van that crashed into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 70 near Eagle in July, killing three people, has been sentenced to 31/2 years in prison.


Twenty-eight-year-old Jose Benedicto Jose-Zacariaz of Guatemala pleaded guilty in February to transporting illegal immigrants resulting in death.

He had faced a penalty of up to life in prison, but received the lesser sentence Friday.

Nine of the 10 people inside the van were illegal immigrants.

He should've gotten 30 years! That's what a US citizen would have ended up with! Something is definitely NOT right here!
