Flagstaff Police Department
The following is a news release from the Flagstaff Police Department:
FLAGSTAFF -- On February 15, 2008, at about 01:00 AM, officers of the Flagstaff Police Department responded to the Flagstaff Medical Center for reports of an abused child. Officers learned a 10 month old, female child, had been injured to the extent that her life was in danger.
Martin Rivera-Longoria
Detectives detained Martin Rivera-Longoria, 24, and following an interview, booked him into the Coconino County Jail on charges of child abuse and false information charges. They learned Mr. Longoria was an undocumented alien and had presented them with false documentation during the initial contact. Besides the criminal charges he also has an immigration custodial hold in place. He appears to have been living in the home of the victim.
The victim was listed as being in critical condition at the Flagstaff Medical Center. It is believed the injuries were received while at the family home on Mountain View. The mother appears to have been working outside the home when the injuries occurred. She brought the child to the hospital when she learned of these injuries.
Child Protective Services had assumed custody of the infant as well as two siblings in the case.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.

If only Martin Rivera-Longoria had left the state due to the new AZ employment laws before this innocent child was critically injured.
