In a four-day period, 14 illegal immigrants tried to enter the county by presenting fraudulent documents at the U.S. Port of Entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

"These are outstanding interceptions by the officers, especially when we consider thousands of people cross daily through our San Luis, AZ Port of Entry," Port Director William Brooks said.

The incidents began Sunday when a woman tried to present a Mexican border crossing card to a CBP officer who was processing travelers coming from Mexico through the pedestrian lane, CBP said. The officer noticed the woman did not resemble the person on the document and referred her to the passport control office.

CBP officers determined the woman was an imposter and taken into custody for immigration processing, CBP said.

On the same day, two more illegal immigrants were caught for the same violations, detained, taken into custody and processed accordingly, CBP said.

Five more illegal immigrants attempted entry into the U.S. through the pedestrian lanes on Tuesday.

The CBP officers noticed the photos on the documents were either altered or they attempted to pose as the legitimate document holders, CBP said.

In these five cases the illegal immigrants were woman who were detained, taken into custody and processed, CBP said.

The imposter cases continued Wednesday when a group of six illegal immigrants were apprehended also attempting entry through the pedestrian lanes in the same manner.

The CBP officers detained these six illegal immigrants, took them into custody and processed them, CBP said.
