Man faces multiple charges in human smuggling case

A Mexican man faces multiple charges for allegedly smuggling illegal aliens into the United States and assaulting a border patrol agent. 19-year old Luis Barron-Sanchez of Hermosillo, Sonora is accused of conspiracy to transport illegal aliens, transportation of illegal aliens, bringing in of illegal aliens and assault on a federal officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon.
The indictment which was handed down by a federal grand jury in Tucson alleges that on January 24 of this year Barron-Sanchez conspired with others to transport four illegal aliens for profit, that he transported them and brought them into the U.S., and that he assaulted a border patrol agent with a vehicle.
If convicted on all charges, Barron-Sanchez faces up to 45 years in prison, and $1 million dollars in fines, or both.
