An 18-year old Mexican man has been sentenced to 10 months in U.S. Federal Prison for assaulting a United States Border Patrol Agent in March. Jesus Figueroa-Huaraqui of Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault on a federal officer resulting in bodily injury.

On March 4, Figueroa-Huaraqui was walking with 3 other illegal aliens in the desert near Nogales, Arizona, when they encountered the agent. All four men fled, but the agent was able to catch Figueroa-Huaraqui, who then struck the agent on the head and shoulder with his fist. The men exchanged a few blows before Figueroa-Huaraqui apologized and stopped resisting. The agent was not seriously hurt.
