AZ-Mexican man sentenced in drop house bust

Mexican man sentenced in drop house bust

PHOENIX - A Mexican man was sentenced Wednesday to 22 years in federal prison in connection with a human smuggling case last year in Arizona.

Prosecutors say 33-year-old Arturo Rodriguez-Rios, of Sinaloa, was convicted in April for hostage taking, harboring illegal immigrants for financial gain and a firearm violation.

Authorities say Rodriguez-Rios and others harbored and concealed a group of illegal immigrants at a home in Peoria, Ariz., and held them hostage for three days in November 2008 until the drop house was raided.

Prosecutors say Rodriguez-Rios also acted as a guard and enforcer, constantly reminding hostages of the consequences of noncompliance by brandishing a 9mm handgun and threatening their lives should their families fail to pay ransom.

Yeah, let's give em Amnesty based on their performance.

The illegals have proven time and time again what wonderful upstanding citizens they are (sarcastic).

Seeing that it is allowable to break one law to make a better life why isn't it allowable to break these other laws? Arturo Rodriguez-Rios was just confused.

A Happy Ending for Rios and other illegals (sarcasm).

Ratbstard, good point about Rios just being "confused".

From what we have seen in this administration, this ending would not be a surprise:

The gov't will probably let him out of jail soon as they will claim that money for incarceration is tight. Rios can plead "confusion" and they will let him go and eventually give him and his entire extended family and friends amnesty.
