    PHOENIX (AP) - 10 people with military ties became United States citizens during a ceremony at the state Capitol on Thursday.

    The Department of Homeland Security says the candidates come from the Air Force, Army and Marines.

    The husband of an active duty Airman and the parents of a Marine killed in Afghanistan will also take the citizenship oath.

    DHS says in a statement that the candidates range in age from 18 to 56 years old, and hail from Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines.

    What many do not realize is that our Reserves and National Guard units have thousands of Mexican Nationals in their ranks.

    They come up from Mexico each summer to participate in annual military training.
