Murder suspect is an alleged illegal immigrant

KINGMAN — A Bullhead City man was indicted for first-degree murder for the alleged shooting death of another man.

A Mohave County grand jury indicted Carlos Elisianio Gomez, 24 of first-degree murder. He is expected to be arraigned on the charge Thursday before Superior Court Commissioner Derek Carlisle.

Originally from Guatemala, Gomez is being held in county jail without bond. He also has a border patrol hold for being an illegal immigrant, according to the county jail.

Gomez is charged with shooting Daniel Mares Lopez on Feb. 17 while Lopez was in the street at Coronel and Coronado drives. He was taken to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center where he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Gomez was arrested the next day as he worked at a business in the 900 block of Hancock Road.

Gomez allegedly shot Lopez, 39, for having an affair with Gomez’s 15-year-old girlfriend. Lopez’s murder was the first in 2011 in Bullhead City.

The Bullhead City Police Department is still looking for the handgun used in the shooting. Mohave Silent Witness is also offering a reward for information about the weapon.

Gomez was arrested the next day as he worked at a business in the 900 block of Hancock Road.

Any reason in particular why the name of the business isn't part of the story?

Have noticed the media use this before. Perhaps it comes from one being innocent until proven guilty or maybe just pc? Tend to think pc.

I don't quite understand your question, but the law here in AZ has all illegal aliens held in jail without bond for their crimes thanks to Russel Pearce and they always put an immigration hold on proven illegal aliens.
