Remains of 2 apparent illegal entrants found
Both discovered in remote areas of Cochise County

Cochise County sheriff's deputies recovered the remains of two suspected illegal immigrants last week — the skeletal remains of a man and the decomposing body of a woman who they say fell to her death from a cliff.
The discovery of the woman occurred June 18 after a hiker in the Coronado National Monument alerted park rangers of a body at the bottom of a 150-foot cliff, said Carol Capas, Cochise County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.
The Cochise County sheriff's search and rescue team spent about eight hours hiking to the remote location, south of Sierra Vista about one mile north of the U.S.-Mexico border, she said. The body was decomposing, having likely been out there for several months. The woman wore a light-colored shirt and blue jeans and carried personal items that might help identify her.
Search and rescue team members hiked the body out of the area and turned her over to the Cochise County Medical Examiner's Office.
Deputies discovered the skeletal remains on Saturday east of Douglas near Hog Canyon after the Border Patrol alerted them, Capas said. Deputies used an ATV to get to the remote, mountainous area about 10 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border. They found a skull and bones scattered through the area, she said.
The Medical Examiner's Office has identified the skeleton as that of a man, but no other information was available.
The Medical Examiner's Office has handled the bodies of 15 illegal border crossers so far this calendar year, compared to 10 at the same time last year.
