    New directive nears completion, does not embrace a don’t-check policy

    As immigration arrests are occurring in the county at a record pace, county police are getting their first look at a new directive on when and why they can ask someone’s immigration status or participate in immigration arrests.



    Essentially, the directive makes official what county officers have been doing and does not condone the don’t-check policy that some immigration advocates had wanted.

    Do what

    It sounds a bit like a do nothing plan

    Where is this again? Cut federal funding, and get ICE on the streets there.

    There should be a state level specialized Police Force with a primary responsibility for the immigration problem. They could require local police to come in to assist them in general sweep activity when their citizens report a sufficient problem.
