OK Hispanic Population Increases Despite HB 1804

I'm shocked. I guess that the problem is growing so fast that the local media outlets are forced to recognize it. Several of us here in Oklahoma have been shouting this for a long time. HB 1804 is not worth the paper it is printed on!

The Hispanic population is growing in Tulsa and across the state, despite fears that a tough anti-illegal immigration law would drive out many in that community.

Detailed U.S. Census numbers for 2007 show a 7.2 percent increase in Hispanics in Tulsa County, compared with the year before. The statewide increase was 5.5 percent. Out of 77 counties, only six saw their Hispanic population decrease during the same time period.

Growth among Hispanics outpaced other minority groups and the nation as a whole, which saw a 3.3 percent Hispanic increase. The Census released the figures for publication Thursday.

Social service agencies attributed the growth to a number of factors, and some argued the data do not include the immigration law’s full effect.

Maria Reyes, who directs the YWCA Multicultural Center, at 8145 E. 17th St., said national migration patterns show Hispanics are relocating from other states.

“The bigger, urban areas are coming to the Midwest,â€

Welcome, illegals, to the late, great USA.
Is that thunder or the sound of the collapse of a sovereign nation?

HB1804 is to make it harder for ILLEGAL aliens to stay in OK. The increase is probably from more births to hispanics in OK. These are two different issues.

I'm sure the increase of births may have something to do with the influx. Can you research these stats and see if their parents are legal? Also, have you watched the adult hispanic community grow at an astronomical rate as East Tulsa? Babies don't grow up over 9 years fast enough to buy and rent homes in my Moms neighborhood. It's quadrupled in that time at least. Over the past year we were victimized by hispanics there 3 times. My 87 year old Mom was forced out of the neighborhood for her own protection.

I've been chased into my house by "suspected" illegals when I've asked them nicely for a year to please stop their 4 dogs from barking under my bedroom window at midnite. I finally called the police and asked for them to check their legal status and the police called me everything but a racist. Since I am not allowed to find out the Legal OR Illegal status in OK all I have to go by is??? So lets consider them ALL legal citizens and have a house warming party. What do you suggest? Maybe we should consider ALL hispanics in L.A. or San Fransico legal. Oh, that's right, we already do. The only way we find out if they ARE illegal is when they murder a family of 3 THEN find out they are illegal.

I've been victimized by the hispanic community 7 times since I've lived here in Tulsa over the past 9 years. Not once by any other culture. I would be MORE than happy to show my legal paper work. So I'll just roll over, let them steal the rest of what I have and walk backward bowing to them and consider them my fellow countrymen.

The laws we have now forces us to be referred to as racist. It forces me to look at a group of people and protect myself. If 7 different pitbulls have attacked me on 7 separate occasions, chances are, I'm going to be very afraid of pitbulls. The only difference is that Animal Control will check to see if these pitbulls are registered and have their shots.

Here's another article that was posted this week regarding ILLEGALS being housed in our local jail.

PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU, Give me an option on how I am supposed to deal with this. Tell us how we are supposed to find out IF these people ARE legal. My Husband and I are tired. We are in the process of preparing our home for sale. Since I can't tell if these people are legal or illegal, I think I'll sell to a hispanic family of 20. I'm sure they will be legal though I won't be able to check that out. They can probably come up with the money faster.
