DOUGLAS, AZ - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Douglas Station arrested a subject on Saturday with a felony conviction for rape. The Border Patrol continues protecting the community by keeping unwanted criminals off of our streets.

Agents assigned to the Douglas Station arrested a Mexican male Saturday when it was discovered that he was illegally present in the United States. Utilizing the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS), records checks revealed that the subject was arrested and convicted in San Diego, California for raping a victim less than 16 years old. The man was found guilty and sentenced to five years probation.

Patrol Agent in Charge Timothy Sullivan said, "The Border Patrol is committed to enhancing the quality of life in the communities that we work and live in. Using databases like IAFIS enable us to identify criminal aliens and prosecute them before they have an opportunity to affect our way of life or endanger residents of our communities."

Criminal aliens, including sexual predators and rapist which are violent criminals, are a threat to our families and our communities. IAFIS is a highly effective tool used to accurately identify and investigate the criminal histories of all apprehended subjects. The Tucson Sector Border Patrol is committed to working with our communities to enhance their quality of life by removing all types of criminals.
